Meet Your Instructor: Eric Barry

• Award-winning Playwright: Winner of 7 Cacique Awards, 2020 Regional Winner (Caribbean) of the BBC International Radio Playwriting Competition, and 2nd place in the Prime Minister's Best Village Trophy Competition Playwriting Competition (2021).

• Seasoned theatre professional with over 30 years of involvement in the theatre.

• A University of the West Indies graduate in Theatre Arts.

• Co-founder of Tête-À-Tête Théâtre, where he writes and directs their productions.

• Former Theatre Arts Teacher at the El Dorado and Chaguaramas Youth Development & Apprenticeship Centres, and currently teaches Voice and Speech at Starr Broadcasting School, bringing unique insights into character voice and effective dialogue.

• Formerly served on the Executive of the National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

• Co-writer of the popular television comedy programme, The Ro'dey Show.

 

Target Audience

Whether you're a budding storyteller or an experienced writer looking to hone your craft, this course is designed to empower you with the tools and techniques to write impactful plays.

 

Course Duration

The course runs for 8 sessions, starting Saturday, August 8th, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sessions will be held every other week, providing ample time for study and writing.

• Online Sessions (7 weeks): Conducted virtually via Google Meet, offering flexibility and convenience.

• Grand Finale (1 in-person session): The final session culminates in an exciting in-person reading of participants' short plays by professional actors before an invited audience.

 

Tuition Fee

$2,000 total or $500 per month.
